Prof. Dr. Essam Farhat, President of
Minia University, received this morning Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the
General Authority for Healthcare and General Supervisor of the Universal Health
Insurance Project with his accompanying delegation to follow up on the detailed
plans and university preparations for integrating its hospitals into the
Universal Health Insurance system.
The meeting was attended by Dr.
Ayman Hassanein, Vice President of the University for Community Service and
Environmental Development and Executive Director of University Hospitals, and
Dr. Hossam Shawky, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Chairman of the Board of
University Hospitals.
For his part, Dr. Essam Farhat pointed out that
Minia University has developed a long-term executive action plan to increase
the capacity of its university hospitals to 4,000 beds. In addition, a
short-term plan aims to raise the number of beds to 3,000 within just two
years, to keep pace with the healthcare needs of the governorate and in support
of the goals of the Universal Health Insurance system
